Plein Air Painters

In collaboration with the St. George Island Paint Out group, we hosted an artists' reception following their plein air painting weekend event: Art & Wine Splash in October 2020.  The outdoor reception combined with indoor art show proved to be a happy combination.  Three of the participating artists agreed to stay on with a selection of paintings, and we couldn't be more pleased.

Cory Wright has been painting professionally since her teen years, working with designers, builders and homeowners to create large scale murals and custom faux finishes. She received a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and continued her studies in Rome. She discovered plein air painting in 2011 and since then, has devoted her time and efforts to pursuing what inspires her most -- painting outdoors and "capturing the essence of the light on the land, sand and sea around me."

Craig Reynolds calls Gulf Shores, Alabama home, but travels extensively across the U.S. and abroad, participating in plein air competitions and leading workshops. His award-winning work has appeared in Plein Air Magazine. "Painting on location, experiencing the sounds, the temperature, the light and ambiance of the scene is very important in adding its DNA to the painting."

Maryo O. Smith grew up in Louisiana and received her degree in Design from Louisiana State University. An accomplished painter in both oil and watercolor, her work has a distinctive loose and expressive style.  She is a Signature Member of the Georgia Watercolor Society and has won numerous prizes at state and national shows.  "Conveying a moment of space and light with color and shape intrigues me with every painting."
