Mally Weaver and Thomas Avery

Working individually, and inspiring each other with creative crosscurrents, this is an artistic team that often paints and travels together.  Dividing their time between the turquoise waters of the Florida Keys and the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, they encounter much to inspire them.  Mally earned her BFA from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University, and her focus is on watercolor painting, both in studio and en plein air.  Tom, an accomplished shipwright and custom cabinetmaker, works primarily in wood, creating sculptures, artful furniture and magnificent bowls out of mahogany, jamaican dogwood and other recovered tropical woods. Another specialty of his: pen and ink on swordfish bills he gets from the fishermen at the docks near his custom woodworking shop in the Keys. We feature several of these unusual artworks that complement Mally's watercolors so well.
