Jenny Odom

Acrylic and Collage Paintings

Apalachicola artist, Jenny Odom, is well-known for her vibrant paintings that can easily be spotted in any number of homes and businesses throughout the Forgotten Coast and beyond. Whatever subject she chooses, her signature style is immediately recognizable. Her process is at once very specific and yet very loose and playful. The steps she uses to create her acrylic and collage canvases serve as a vehicle for her imagination to run free, allowing the paintings to unfold without knowing exactly where they will end up.

From childhood, Jenny was always drawn to the arts, which led her to studio art and graphic design studies at Flagler College in St. Augustine, before embarking on a career in advertising and publishing. But with her creative sensibility, it wasn't long before she left the corporate world to focus on making fine art, developing her painting discipline and her audience in Phoenix, Arizona where she lived for 22 years. Even with her formal education, Jenny followed her own path, intuitively building her painting and collage techniques over time by experimenting with layering, color and texture.

In 2015 Jenny made the move to Apalachicola, bringing both her painting and musical talents with her -- opening a successful gallery and as a guitarist, collaborating with local musicians to write and play an eclectic mix of American Roots music. As her gallery grew, Jenny's appreciation for the way all forms of artistic expression come together to enhance each other, became evident. She partnered with other talented artists to host many guest exhibits, house concerts, book and poetry readings, and standing- room-only events that showcased the visual, performing and literary arts all in one evening. The gallery closed in September of 2021; but the art continues without skipping a beat, and we're delighted that Jenny's work can now be found here at Live Oak Gallery.
