David Diaz

David Diaz is a widely-collected artist working in oil and pastels. He lives in Annapolis, Maryland where he is board president and chair of exhibitions for the Maryland Federation of Art. He is primarily a plein air painter with a focus on regional subjects. That said, he is reluctant to put a label on his work as one particular style or theme, preferring to let the work speak for itself.... location hardly matters and the overall effect begins to approach abstraction. "It is not just the subject I look for, but the play of light across a surface. It is the immediacy of applying to the canvas the emotions you feel when you first view a scene, and - with fleeting light and time - convey through paint, what your emotions see."
